INDIANAPOLIS – To celebrate America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, RecycleForce is conducting a general recycling drive at City Market from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The annual day of recognition continues into the weekend with an electronic waste collection at the Indy Winter Farmers Market (IWFM) on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Both collection events highlight new partnerships between RecycleForce, City Market and IWFM. Earlier in 2011, RecycleForce began collecting glass, cans and paper from patrons as well as cardboard from stand owners at City Market. With grant assistance via the Indiana Recycling Coalition, there are 20 collection points situated throughout the historic downtown venue.

Recycling stations will also be on hand each Saturday at IWFM, which enters its fourth season at its new location within City Market this month. RecycleForce will also collect used electronics for recycling once a month during the IWFM season. The first eCycling event is on Nov. 19. Subsequent eCycling dates are Dec. 10, Jan. 14, Feb. 11, Mar. 10 and April 14.

“We are striving to improve our environmental stewardship and to be a good example to our stand-owners and the community at large,” said Stevi Stoesz, interim executive director of City Market. “We are proud to partner with RecycleForce and support its social enterprise model.”

RecycleForce offers comprehensive and innovative recycling services while providing life-changing workforce training to formerly incarcerated individuals.

“It is our goal is to help create a cleaner environment and a stronger workforce,” said Ed Stites, director of sales and marketing at RecycleForce. “These partnerships provide us a unique opportunity to be an extension of the missions of both City Market and Indy Winter Farmers Market.”

“Conserving resources and supporting local are key components of the Indy Winter Farmers Market,” said Molly Trueblood, IWFM market manager. “We’re excited to provide our patrons with an outlet to safely and responsibly recycle electronics, support a local organization with a great mission, and keep potentially harmful and precious resources out of landfills.”
