Safer Communities

How we’re contributing to public safety.

RecycleForce believes that one of the best crime deterrents is a job. Through RecycleForce’s comprehensive program, ex-offenders learn life skills and professional training that allow them to re-enter the full-time workforce in a matter of months.

By having and maintaining a steady job and a source of income, program participants are able to transition back into society at a much higher rate of success.

According to RecycleForce President Gregg Keesling, “Once we give a man a fighting chance to do the right thing, most, in fact, will.” And the statistics bear this out.

On average, more than 50 percent of ex-offenders in Indianapolis/Marion County commit violations and return to the criminal justice system.  Of the 360 ex-offenders who completed the RecycleForce program and achieved full-time paid employment, only 25% have recidivated (returned to the criminal justice system due to a violation).

By keeping these workers on a path to employment and self-sufficiency, the chance of them committing future crimes is significantly decreased, thereby reducing crime and keeping our communities safer.
